Virginia Huynh, physical therapist II
Collaboration is working together and creating lasting partnerships that improve patient care, strengthen teams and advance research. As a leader in the Breathe Easy pulmonary rehabilitation program at the G.F. MacDonald Centre for Lung Health, Virginia Huynh has built connections across multiple healthcare organizations to ensure the program’s success at 10 sites across Alberta.
When the program transitioned to Connect Care, Virginia took on the challenge of integrating scheduling across sites that had varying levels of Connect Care access. She worked closely with Alberta Health Services (AHS) teams, attending physicians and allied health staff to develop a standardized electronic intake form, ensuring patient history would be efficiently documented and accessible to all providers. Her initiative streamlined the referral process, improving both physician workflow and patient care.
Virginia has fostered partnerships with the University of Alberta, collaborating on research. These research papers get published in international journals, elevating the Centre’s reputation on a global scale. She openly shares data and expertise, driving innovation in pulmonary rehabilitation and ensuring that best practices are widely adopted.
Virginia’s leadership extends to her team where she creates a culture of inclusivity and mentorship. She played a key role in relocating the program to a new site, navigating partnerships with AHS, CapitalCare and vendors while ensuring a smooth transition for staff and patients.
She leads her team to strive to provide gold standing pulmonary rehab to the patients they serve.
