Theresa Bellows, volunteer coordinator
Bringing people together isn’t just part of Theresa Bellows’ job, it’s her passion. As the volunteer coordinator at Dulcina Hospice since its inception, she has built a dynamic and diverse volunteer program that enriches the lives of residents, families and staff. From young adults to seniors, Theresa ensures that each volunteer’s unique skills and gifts are used to create meaningful experiences for those spending their final days in hospice care.
Theresa’s collaborations extend far beyond the walls of Dulcina. She connects with cultural groups, community organizations and local businesses to create unforgettable moments for residents. She organized National Truth and Reconciliation Day events, arranged for therapy horses to visit a lifelong equestrian and helped a resident experience one last Chinese lion dance. Thanks to her efforts, an airline crew even visited to bring Christmas cheer and gifts.
Her leadership has also brought lasting enhancements to hospice care. She developed programs like the Friday afternoon happy hour cart and the comfort cart, both of which other Covenant Care sites have adopted. She continues to advocate for volunteers, getting the site to recognize and value their contributions.
Through her creativity, tireless dedication and ability to build strong partnerships, Theresa strengthens the hospice’s community. Her work helps ensure each resident’s final days are full of joy, dignity and connection, leaving a lasting impact on families.
