For more than 35 years, Pat Mah, has been a registered nurse and guiding light at St. Mary’s Hospital. Whether mentoring new nurses, advocating for vulnerable patients or serving the wider community, Pat leads with kindness and purpose.
She treats nursing students with patience and kindness. Pat demonstrates how to ensure patients’ most basic needs, warmth, nourishment and comfort, are met with dignity.
Pat listens to patients’ and families’ stories seeking to understand their struggles and connects them with the resources they need. When a patient or family member is unsure of their next steps, she patiently educates, explains and offers reassurance.
Her commitment to justice is evident both inside and outside the hospital. From participating in mission-driven committees to collecting bottles to raise funds for a local food pantry, Pat’s generosity knows no bounds. She adjusts her schedule to fulfill her many commitments, never missing an opportunity to serve her community.
