Christine North, operations portfolio manager

Bringing people together to create lasting change requires vision, dedication and commitment to hearing every voice. Christine North is a driving force behind collaborative efforts that improve healthcare experiences for patients, residents, families and staff across Covenant Health. Through her leadership, she strengthens partnerships, fosters open communication and turns feedback into meaningful improvements.

A key example of her impact is the development of the annual resident and family experience survey in continuing care sites. Christine advocated for changes to allow residents with moderate cognitive decline to participate. This means there are more residents’ thoughts and opinions to consider in decision-making. She trains volunteers to administer the survey, reinforcing a collaborative approach that leads to direct quality improvements.

Beyond survey initiatives, she plays a critical role in system-wide projects. She facilitated the transition of community transition beds into a restorative care unit, coordinated the conversion of supportive living beds to long-term care beds and helped establish a surge unit at St. Michael’s Health Centre. Her ability to navigate complex discussions while maintaining a solution-focused approach ensures smooth transitions and positive outcomes.

Christine also led an Edmonton area stakeholder meeting for seniors’ mental health services, engaging over 40 organizations, including government agencies, Indigenous groups and healthcare providers. Her work identified service gaps and fostered new partnerships, ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the care they need.

Her impact is felt across Covenant Health, strengthening teamwork, encouraging diverse perspectives and ensuring that all voices, especially those of vulnerable populations, are included in healthcare decisions.
