Sylvia Krysak, volunteer

For volunteer Sylvia Krysak, advocacy is about speaking up and ensuring every resident has a voice in their own care. As a valued member of the continuing care quality council at St. Therese Villa, Sylvia brings the resident perspective to the forefront, offering thoughtful insights and championing initiatives that improve the quality of life for those around her.

Her leadership extends beyond council meetings. She actively supports co-residents, helping them better understand information that may otherwise be unclear. With patience and kindness, she takes the time to explain policies, provide reassurance and ensure that everyone feels informed and empowered.

Sylvia also plays a vital role in shaping the future of continuing care. She contributed to the grow your own health care aide program, offering suggestions to enhance student learning such as identifying residents students could turn to for help answering their questions. By encouraging hands-on experience with real residents instead of manikins, she helped create a more meaningful and practical training environment.

She is an important member of the quality council team sharing the views and opinions of the residents at St. Therese Villa and advocating on their behalf for better quality care.
