Bonnie Lothrop, clerk

Creating a sense of belonging is essential for those facing barriers, and clerk, Bonnie Lothrop, ensures that everyone she encounters feels welcomed and valued. Working in Banff, where the community includes temporary foreign workers, new Canadians, young people on their own for the first time and travellers navigating unfamiliar systems, she goes beyond her role to offer support and kindness. Whether assisting those struggling with language barriers, health care access or social challenges, she consistently provides a safe and compassionate presence.

Bonnie is a dedicated advocate, speaking out for those who may not have a voice. When someone arrives at the hospital in crisis whether due to mental health concerns, financial hardship or a lack of resources she ensures they receive the care and connections they need. From helping patients access shelter and food to offering reassurance and guidance, she embodies the values of dignity and justice in every interaction.

Her commitment to social justice extends beyond her workplace, shaping the broader community. With lived experience that fosters deep empathy, she sees the disparities between those with resources and those without. Her understanding of these challenges drives her to support and uplift those around her, both inside and outside the hospital

Bonnie transforms routine interactions into moments of genuine care, ensuring that no one feels alone in their struggles. She regularly inspires smiles in our residents, colleagues and community members as they pass by the reception desk.
